Camp Rules & Clothing

The Board of Directors of Green Valley Bible Camp has passed the following rules and believes they are necessary to the running of an effective camp that will contribute to the spiritual welfare of the campers.

Clothing

The Board of Directors of Green Valley Bible Camp has established the following rules to help maintain a safe,

respectful, and spiritually focused camp environment:

  • All clothing must be modest.

  • No tank tops, low-cut garments, see-through tops, or bare midriffs.

  • Shorts should be mid-thigh length.

  • Clothing with suggestive or inappropriate logos is not permitted.

  • Modest swimsuits are required for swim time. Boys and girls will have separate swim times – girls should wear a one-piece or tankini swimsuit.

  • Dress clothes are not required for evening worship services.

Portable Smart Devices

Use of tablets or phones is at the discretion of the Session Director.

Not Allowed

The following items are not allowed at camp:

  • Tobacco, alcohol, or illegal/controlled substances

  • Firearms, knives, or other weapons

  • Pets in cabins

  • Radios, stereos, CD players, game consoles, and similar devices

Camper Safety

The safety of our campers is our number one priority. If you have any additional questions regarding safety, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Allergies

If your child has food allergies, the food staff can accommodate requests when notified in advance. Counselors and food staff will help your child avoid allergy-triggering foods. Be sure to list all food, material, and environmental allergies when registering, and contact the Camp Cook to discuss any needed accommodations.

Medication

When registering your child, be sure to include all medical conditions and any required medications. Counselors will help ensure medications are taken at the correct times, following the instructions provided by a parent or guardian. Some camp sessions may also have a nurse, EMT, or other medical professional serving as a Counselor to oversee proper medication administration. There will be an opportunity during check-in to discuss your child’s medication needs in detail.

Accidents

Parents/guardians will be notified immediately in the event of a major accident or injury. Serious accidents and injuries are rare; however, the camp is located within 5 miles of a major hospital. While not guaranteed, many Counselors have some formal medical training—most often in nursing—and can assist with minor issues such as bee stings, small cuts, or headaches.

Campers with Special Needs

We strive to make our camp experience welcoming for campers with special needs. While we do not provide trained professional services, our experienced Session Directors and Counselors are caring, patient, and happy to provide extra attention and support.

Campers with special needs who have attended in the past include, but are not limited to, those with:

  • Physical disabilities (e.g., blindness, mobility challenges, diabetes)

  • Challenges with basic life skills

  • Psychological or developmental disorders (e.g., intellectual disabilities, autism, anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD)

It is important that we know about your child’s needs in advance so we can plan appropriately. Please contact the Session Director prior to registering to ensure we can accommodate your child.

Head Lice Policy

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure their camper arrives at camp free of head lice and nits. The Session Director has the authority to determine whether a head lice check will be conducted at check-in on Sunday and may also perform periodic checks during the camp session.

If a camper is found to have head lice or nits while at camp:

  • The camper will be temporarily separated to prevent spreading lice.

  • The parent/guardian will be notified and asked to pick up their child for treatment. A Counselor or another authorized adult may assist with treatment if approved by the parent/guardian.

  • If the child leaves for treatment, parents should take all personal items for proper cleaning.

  • If Camp Staff manage treatment, clothing, bed linens, and other washable items will be laundered in hot water (130°F) and dried on high heat. Combs and brushes will be soaked in hot water (at least 130°F) for 5–10 minutes. Items that cannot be washed will be sealed in a plastic bag and stored for 2 weeks.

Once treated and nits are removed, the camper may return to camp and must pass a screening before returning to their cabin.
